Now that Playing Doctor has been pushed out of the nest and winging its way to ereaders everywhere, the burning question is, what's next?
I've had several requests for a follow up on Beth and Gabe's story, hoping to see their happy for now grow into a happily ever after. I've also had requests for Connie's story.
My question is, would you rather see Beth's and Gabe's story come to completion in a shorter, second novella...or have their HEA play out in Connie's book?
Connie is Beth's BFF and a total firecracker, but there hadn't been a plan to give her a story of her own.
There was, however, a drool-worthy character in the origional draft of Playing Doctor who was cut from the book, with the suggestion of telling his story at some point. Eddie Barone is a testosterone packing, tattooed cage fighter, and the personification of raw sex, but beneath the muscles and brawn beats a heart of pure gold.
Suddenly, my what if button lit up. Connie is a divorcee, as evidenced by her remark over Beth's mucsle car, "you know I'd give my ex-husband's balls for a car like that..." Okay, obviously it wasn't an amicable ending to their marriage. So, what happened?
When I first envisioned Eddie Barone, I saw a man who had experienced an abusive childhood, a young boy who had survived by using his wit first and his fists when necessary to protect not only himself, but his younger sister, as well. Then I saw him sitting in his father's restaurant, nursing injuries from his last fight when in walks none other than the object of his high school fantasies...Constance Beaumont, with an outrageous proposal that just might allow him to finaly get his hands on the girl who'd always been just out of reach.
So, do Beth and Gabe get their own novella, or will we see them again in Connie and Eddie's book, Bad Company?

Join me today as I welcome Dorothy A. Bell, author of the Laura Creek Series!
Hi, everybody, Dorothy A. Bell here.
I would like to thank my host for putting me up on her blog today. As an
introduction, I thought I would give visitors a glimpse into my life so far.
I grew up in southern Iowa, moved to
Oregon’s Willamette Valley at the age of eleven. I was in the sixth grade when
I started school in Oregon. On my first day of school, I encountered the boy I
would eventually marry. He kept pestering me, trying to kiss me. I held out until
I turned sixteen, then I kind’a got the hang of the kissing thing. We’ve been
married for forty-eight years, he’s still a pest, bless him.
I started out writing Regency
Romances to entertain myself. I took writing courses, but I think I learned the
most by submitting my work to publishers, editors and agents, and getting
feedback. Laid low for nearly twenty-five years with arthritis, forced to use a
battery-powered cart, I took up aquatic exercise and became an instructor.
After two surgeries to replace my knees, I went to work on myself and lost
eighty-five pounds, which I have kept off.
My husband and I live in Central
Oregon with two West Highland White terriers, an energetic, longhaired
Dachshund and one big, angora tuxedo cat. When I need a break from writing
Oregon historical western romances, I work in the yard or my garden.
This year I am proud to announce the
release of two Laura Creek romances “The Reprobate” and “The Cost of Revenge”,
available on Amazon, http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-eBooks/b?ie=UTF8&node=154606011
Barnes and Noble, http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/NOOK-Book-eBook-store/379003094 Good Reads, https://www.goodreads.com/
and Freya’s Bower, http://freyasbower.com
as e-books.

her, most of all she wants to believe the handsome, arrogant flirt Quinn
O’Bannon is the worst of the lot.

Excerpt of The Reprobate
Music teacher, the crippled goddess,
Cleantha Arnaud dared the reprobate, Royce O’Bannon to come to her, climb in
bedroom window, and prove to her she could enjoy all the pleasures of the
flesh.
Royce had reconciled himself to the idea
that he wasn’t
here to satisfy his own needs. He knew how
to pleasure a
woman, but he usually didn’t need to, most
of the women he
bedded didn’t expect it. He paid to be
pleasured, not to do
the pleasuring. So this wasn’t going to be
easy—not easy at
all. He wanted to show Cleantha that she
could feel, could
enjoy, could achieve pleasure.
Hell, her hands were everywhere, stroking,
touching,
sending waves of desire through his body.
Not using a
woman to satisfy his own lust, add that to
the list of things
he’d never tried before. Cleantha had him
doing all kinds of
things he never would have done in his
past life. He couldn’t
bear the thought of hurting
her—consideration for the
woman—that would definitely go on the
list.
With no light he couldn’t see her scars,
but with his hands
he’d found the long, rough trenches of
thickened flesh on
each side of her body, from her waist down
to the top of her
thighs. On the right hip, his fingers had
traced the worst of
the scaring, the gash felt wider, the
flesh rougher and more
sunken-in over her hip-bone.
He couldn’t take the chance of hurting her
by putting his
weight on her, and yet the need to sink
himself into her
warm moist slit undermined his resolve to
take it easy and
slow, give her time, give Cleantha
pleasure. He wasn’t sure
what he could do, but she wanted more. He
had to do what
she wanted—he couldn’t go back now. She
moved down the
length of his chest, her hot, wet tongue
driving him crazy.
Her hands sought his erection, then her
tongue ran the
length of his shaft.
He held on to his self-control—barely. He
had to do
something, and do it now, or he would
forget about her
pleasure and take his own. Raising himself
up to a sitting
position, he took her by the waist and
helped her straddle his
hips. With her hands braced on his
shoulders, and his hands
on her hips to guide her downward, he
slowly lowered her.
His shaft found the wet tunnel of her
womanhood. She
hissed as he filled her.
Eyes closed, Royce held his breath. She
folded around
him, warm, slick and hot. Perfect. Never
in his whole life had
he ever felt this...perfection. They were a
perfect fit—their
bodies melding together, creating the
ultimate in pleasure
and satisfaction. He adjusted himself
beneath her hips and
helped her to get her legs into a more
comfortable position.
Leaning forward, she began to rock forward
and back...up
a little. The need for release had him in
a sweat as he fought
to hold himself in check. Cleantha wanted
this—she wanted
to set the pace. When she giggled he
wanted to weep, his
heart overflowing with some heady emotion
that had taken
over his mind, ruling out all good sense.
She’d told him of her fears, told him that
she didn’t think
she could do this, couldn’t enjoy this,
and here she was in
control, making it happen. She tilted her head
back. He could
see her, her glorious hair wild, draped
over her white
shoulders, and he forgot his need for
release, not wanting to
take his eyes from her face as he reached
between their
bodies to find her aroused nub. His
fingers slid in and out of
her flower with the rhythm and pace she’d
set.
* * * *
Cleantha found the process excruciatingly
slow but
intensely erotic. She experimented,
flexing the muscles
within her core to grip his shaft. After a
little practice, she
could increase the intensity or release
the tension. Deep
within her, the embers of passion ignited.
Instinctively, she
shifted her weight and found the perfect
pressure point. No
longer thinking, her body taking her away,
she sought the
ultimate pleasure. Royce let out a primal
growl as he bucked
beneath her.
The heat between them exploded, and she
felt Royce’s
seed fill her, hot and thick. The flow of
primal lava took their
two crashing bodies and melded them into
one great volcanic
eruption. Her fingers dug into his
shoulders as her orgasm
reached its pinnacle. With her head thrown
back, her teeth
clenched, she held on to Royce as they
flew together beyond
the earth’s atmosphere, away from the pull
of gravity, to
drift, weightless, in a sea of hot, sparkling
pleasure

Like holding your first baby!
When the mail ran this morning and everything she delivered fit into the mailbox, I was a bit let down. I had been hoping the print copies of my debut book would arrive. I pouted around for a while and bemoaned that they hadn't arrived while my hubby rolled his eyes and worked the remote for the TV.
About an hour later the UPS guy pulled into the drive. He had a box under his arm as he walked toward the house, but I figured it was another Amazon delivery for my son. When I opened the door, he'd left the box on the carport and when I picked it up, I gave a totally embarrassing teenaged squeel! From his recliner, my husband said, "And I guess those are your books."
Creating a story about two tortured people, being able to give them a second chance at love and happiness is so very rewarding. Getting that email from your first choice publisher that they want to take it to acqusitions gives you a "zing" that sets your heart racing. Opening your email to an offer for contract takes you a moment to realize it's actually happening. Signing it and sending it back makes you shake all over! Diving into those first round of edits is exciting...when you aren't feeling like your head will explode! Getting your cover, with your title, your name and the publisher on it leaves you a little breathless. Launch day has you glued to your office chair, eyes on the monitor as you see that first shift in ranking that tells you you've made a sale...that someone other than you, your critique partner or your editors will now be reading what you've sweatted over for months. Seeing multiple 4 dn 5 star reviews going up for the world to see kind of takes your breath.
Then you open that little box from CreateSpace and take out your book...hold it in your hands...
Freaking AWESOME!

PLAYING DOCTOR is live!!
I'm so excited to be a part of Entangled Publishing's initial launch of their sexy new imprint, flaunt.
Blurb:
When a fellow RN jokingly predicts that Beth Roberts will meet a tall, ripped and totally lick-o-licious stranger who will fulfill her deepest desires, it’s supposed to be from across a crowded room, not giving CPR to a wedding guest. Given her tragic love life, Beth has no desire to become involved again, but who could have predicted the ponytailed doctor with the mischievous smile would break through her defenses?
Dr. Gabriel North blamed himself for his wife’s death. Now, after two years of battling guilt and meaningless hookups, he’s ready to move on. When he sees the sexy brunette at his friend’s wedding, his attraction is swift and strong, and he wastes no time in pressing his advantage. One night with the woman who makes him feel alive again isn’t enough, but gaining her trust is going to take more than medical school has prepared him for.
Excerpt:
Gabe pulled into the hotel parking lot and cut the engine. Hooking his wrist over the steering wheel, he turned and looked at her. “I’m not ready to end this, and I think…hope we’re on the same track. If not, then I apologize, but I think you should invite me up so we see where this goes.”
She was surprised and so very relieved to hear his words echo her own thoughts. There was no second-guessing what he was suggesting, no point in pretending otherwise. The anticipation sent a shimmer of excitement through her. Adrenaline raced through her veins at what she was about to say, what she was about to do.
“Yes, I’d like that,” she murmured, her voice a little shaky. When Gabe heaved out a sigh of relief and reached for her, she held up her hand. “But I have a stipulation.”
The expression on his face would have been comical if the situation wasn’t so emotionally charged, and Beth almost smiled. She’d bet her new stethoscope he was expecting her to say, no sex. Well, he couldn’t be further off the track. She wanted everything he could give her…and more.
“I have no room for romance or a relationship in my life, nor do I want it. I want no complications, and you can expect the same from me. This is for one night only,” she said.
Gabe nodded. The relief on his face told her they were of the same mindset where emotional involvement was concerned. Good.
“You should know that I’m free of any sexually transmitted disease. I was tested after my husband died.” She continued when he nodded again. “What we’re considering is sex, pure and simple, between two consenting adults, nothing more. Are we agreed?”
“No.”
For a moment, Beth wasn’t sure she’d heard him correctly. “No?”
“No. I have a couple of stipulations of my own.”
Well, she certainly hadn’t expected this. Beth shifted in her seat. Wary and more than a little apprehensive, she said, “Please, go on.”
“First off, you should also know that I’ve never had an STD in my life. Secondly, I agree with the no romance, no relationship, no complications part and that we’re considering consensual—emphasis on the sensual—sex,” he corrected.
Gabe leaned across the seat, drove his fingers in her hair, took her mouth and her breath along with it. It was quick and thorough, a little rough with urgency. “Now, my stipulations.” He looked at her, his eyes grave. “You set the comfort level in everything we do. I want you to know you’re safe with me. I’ve been hard for you since the moment I first saw you. I want you easy and slow, hard and fast.” His gaze dropped to her mouth, the rough pad of his thumb skimmed over her bottom lip, and what he said next took her breath away. “I want to feel you come around my cock and against my mouth, and more than anything, I want to feel you swallow me deeper than I’ve ever been swallowed before. I want you on your back, straddling my hips, and on your hands and knees. It can be sweet and innocent or I can flat out fuck you until you can’t walk if that’s the way you want it, but there will be nothing pure or simple about it. Are we agreed?”
Heat rippled over her sex. Her nipples tightened until even the soft satin of her bra felt abrasive. She couldn’t form a response, could only nod as she stared into his heavy-lidded, lust-filled eyes. His words were dark and erotic, his voice deep and rich with promise, and she wanted it all. She’d never been so turned on in her life.
“Are we agreed?” he repeated.
“Yes, we’re agreed.”

Tessa Bailey: Queen of Dirty Talking!
The Queen of Dirty Talking is back! Whether this is your first
experience with Tessa Bailey’s dirty talking heroes or you’ve been following
her all along, you don’t want to miss out on meeting Brent and Hayden. Their
banter is witty, filled with sexual tension, and the sex itself is
“fan-your-face” hot, according to an early review from USA Today Happily Ever
After.
Here’s a dirty talking snippet just for you guys:
He leaned forward and spoke right against her ear. “Come for me
right now and I’ll let you ride me as hard as you want later. I know what gets
you off. I saw it in your eyes last night. You want to throw me down and fuck
me, duchess? Good. I’m in the mood to let you.”
About Asking for Trouble
Brent Mason and Hayden Winstead can't stand each other. She plans
exclusive parties for her rich family’s charities. He’s a rough and tumble cop
who rigs explosives for a living. Could two people be any less suited for conversation?
They think not and prefer to keep it that way.
Unfortunately, their two best friends are deeply, disgustingly in
love. Forced together, the mutual attraction simmering beneath the surface of
Brent and Hayden’s non-relationship grows with every argument until it explodes
into a scintillating night of mind-blowing sex. And it won’t be the last, as
far as Brent’s concerned.
Hayden has a secret, though. Her father’s company is relying on a
merger to save them from financial ruin, and only Hayden’s marriage to the
CEO’s wealthy son can secure the deal. If she’s to protect her family, she’ll
have to forget Brent. And he has no intention of being forgotten.
In celebration of her new release, Tessa Bailey’s first book Protecting
What’s His is on sale for only ¢99 for two full weeks! (11/24 - 12/7) Just
in time to gift it to everyone who appreciates a dirty talker.
About Protecting What’s His
She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.
The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to
pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her
and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy
sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville
in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come...
Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense,
naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up
and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved
with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal
who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more
than just a taste.
And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the
law.

My Sexy Saturday: Playing Doctor
Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog and reading an excerpt from my debut release from Entangled Publishing, PLAYING DOCTOR, releasing tomorrow!

One night with the woman who makes him feel alive again isn’t enough, but gaining her trust is going to take more than medical school has prepared him for.
“Oh, God.” The image he painted, pushing over the desk, driving into her…her pussy clenched.
“Ah, fuck! Squeeze me like that again,” he panted. “Just…hold on to me.” Widening his stance, Gabe grasped Beth’s hips and lifted her, angling his pelvis up as he brought her back down hard on his shaft. Then he did it again.
“Gabe, that’s…oh, I…just don’t stop!” Each pause was punctuated with another lift and thrust.
“No way in hell. Just don’t scream when you come.” And then he moved, lifting, lowering, rotating his hips to find that sweet spot that drove her wild.
It started in the soles of her feet—that sizzle of electricity signaling her orgasm. It snaked up her legs, curled around her inner thighs, and with a low keening sound, Beth buried her face in Gabe’s neck and welcomed it as it speared her clit with an orgasm that clung to every inch of Gabe as he drove into her. He was right with her, his breath a harsh hiss against her ear as he thrust deep and held her tightly against him.
The soft brush of Gabe’s lips over her sweat-dampened temple was in stark contradiction to the choppy breaths lifting his chest against hers. “I’ve missed you, missed this,” he whispered hoarsely.

Worth The Wait
Exciting changes are happening at Entangled Publishing, and with those changes comes a delay in the release date for Playing Doctor--but all for the best reasons.
Unfortunately, until these new and exciting changes are announced by Entangled, I can't say anymore, except that it's exactly what I had hoped for!

Sneak Peek Sunday
This is an unedited excerpt from my upcoming release with Entangled Publishing's Ever After imprint titled, Playing Doctor.
Tilting her head, Beth peered up at Gabe
through her lashes, curled her lips into a taunting grin, pleased
when his Adam’s apple bobbed in his throat.
“I don’t think so,” She informed
Caroline with a throaty purr. “Gabriel is busy tonight, and will continue to
be…for as long as likes.” And as those words left her mouth, Beth realized she
actually meant them, and with that knowledge, she reached out, drove her
fingers through his hair, cupped her hand at the base of his skull and pulled
his mouth down to hers.
Surprise. She felt his brief pause of shock
as their lips met, and then his mouth encompassed hers, shifted and possessed.
Heat. Had a man’s mouth ever felt so
hot? Firm, yet soft? Demanding, yet
giving?
His hands came up, framed her face. He
tilted her head and took the kiss deeper, sealed his lips over hers. His tongue
grazed her lower lip, seeking permission. Her own darted forth, invited him in.
More. She wanted more. Her fingers
fisted in his hair, tugged. His groan slid past her lips, over her tongue.
Blood pounded in her ears, flooded her sex. The sounds of the wedding reception
dulled into a low drone, and nothing existed except Gabriel’s mouth on hers…and
Caroline’s frustrated exclamation.

Playing Doctor has found a home!
I'm happy to announce that my debut book, Playing Doctor has found a happy home with Entangled Publishing, and has a tentative release date of September with their Ever After imprint!
This little book has come a long way from the two paragraph blurb for the M&B Medical pitch in February of 2012. [see earlier post].
In June of last year, I sent the first three chapters to Heather Howland, who asked for the full upon completion. It took me a while to get it just the way I wanted it. I worked on it during Entangled Smackdown with Heather and her wonderful assistants, Sue and Tahra, who gave a great 20-page critique.
In the meantime, I was doing a writer's workshops on Savvy Authors using the first chapter of PD for the class, and the editor of Total E-Bound [who was conducting the class] asked to see the manuscript. I thought it would be a good opportunity to get feedback, and so I sent it to her. Much to my surprise, I was offered a contract for the book. This was a good thing, but I had my heart set on Entangled!
On February 25th of this year, I sent the completed manuscript to Entangled, not to the Brazen imprint as I had originally intended, but to the Ever After imprint, as it just felt right to end the story as a novella, and it was forwarded to Heather Howland. On March 15th, I accepted a contract with them!
Now, as I anxiously await the first round of edits, I'm working on the book for the secondary characters of Playing Doctor, Ian Montgomery and Eve Winters, titled, Educating Eve.

When It Rains...
You've heard the old saying, "When it rains, it pours..."
Sometimes that's a good thing, and sometimes it can cause horrendous stress. As you know, I've been working on a book, Playing Doctor [originally titled, A Doctor In The House] off and on for a year. Throughout that year, it's caught several editor's attention. It made it through the Harlequin M&B Medical pitch, with an eventual rejection, but with a wonderful 2-page feedback letter from Flo Nicoll with the invitation to write something else and submit it. Revamped, it made it through the HQN Blaze pitch with a request for the partial manuscript. A few months ago it also caught the eye of Heather Howland of Entangled Publishing with a request for the full manuscript upon completion.
Over the past few months, I've tweaked, twiddled, and fiddled with the manuscript, and just before submitting it, it caught the eye of an editor conducting a writer's workshop with Savvy Authors. [I was using the first chapter for the class] She asked to see the manuscript.
The past two weeks, some wonderful things have been happening. Great things.
Stay tuned to this station for further developments!
